This book shows photos of Kyoto Japan between around 1900 to the early 1930s in black and white images which have been hand-coloured. 
While the city and religious sections are genuinely of Kyoto, a lot of the people postcards are more likely to be generic of Japan, probably taken with models in basic studios as that was the way then, the backcloths are quite obvious in some. 
As a photographer myself, I have been very careful whilst retouching these images, I tried to keep in mind what the original photographers would like to see if they were alive today. To add to the authenticity, I have used stamps which were in use when the postcards were being sent.
